Abstract
This article will discuss the Khawārij sect and the Sunnah of the Prophet. The discussion revolves around the genealogy
of the Inkār al-Sunnah movement in the early days of Islamic history. Using the literature study method, this article finds that, as an early Islamic sect, the Khawārij were not only physical rebellion movements, they were transforming them- selves into intellectual movements. This article concludes that the intellectual products produced by the Khawārij sect are, among other things, the dictum lā ḥukma illā li al-Lāh. Implied by this phrase, they prioritize the Qur'ān as a religious view and have a minor view of the Sunnah of the Prophet. Therefore, some scholars say Khawārij has the Sunnah's denial. The term Qur'aniyyūn is pinned on them because of their black-and-white view of religious discourse. The following discussion is a historical-analysis of the Khawārij genealogies and their religious views.
Keywords: Khawārij; Inkār al-Sunnah; lā ḥukma illā li al-Lāh; Qur'aniyyūn
