Gender-based violence in the city of Padang is relatively high. Women occupy positions that are
often subjected to domestic violence. On the one hand, women are highly elevated because they
are the pillars of the state. Physical and psychological violence is not only done by housewives,
but also by children. Women have the right to receive protection from acts of violence both in
the household and in the community. On the other hand, religious education is very important as
a foundation for creating a happy family of sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah. It is important to
provide assistance to victims of gender-based domestic violence so that they can repair and
re-realize the meaning and purpose of marriage. Empowerment of victims of gender-based
violence in the household can be realized through sakinah muwadah warahmah family outreach.
The data collection method uses interviews, observation. Assistance is carried out through
discussions and looking for solutions so that domestic violence can be minimized or even
avoided. As a result of mentoring and socialization, it is known that what triggers domestic
violence are economic issues, educational background and low understanding of religion and
ego-centricity from partners, lack of mutual respect and many demands. There has been
awareness and increased understanding among victims of violence about the importance of
maintaining the integrity of the household by promoting a simple and happy life according to
the Koran and Hadith.
